On December 12th, a moving ceremony was held in honor of and in gratitude to teachers Celeste Jacinto and Virgínia Machado, who retired in 2024. The event took place at DEMI, bringing together their colleagues to celebrate the long years of dedication of these teachers to the education of so many students.
On December 11, NOVA FCT paid tribute to Professor Virgílio Cruz Machado, former Dean of the Faculty, for the four-year period 2018-2022. The ceremony took place in the Auditorium of Building IV, where his portrait, painted by Portuguese artist Carlos Possolo, was officially unveiled.

On November 14th, the Auditorium of Building IV hosted a special moment: the doctoral defense of Mohammud Hanif Dewan, a DEMI student. During the afternoon, the candidate presented his thesis, titled "Exploring the Engagement, Knowledge, and Effective Training of Seafarers in Energy-Efficient Ship Operations”.

On November 14th, at 2 p.m., DEMI student Mohammud Hanif Dewan's doctoral dissertation will take place in the Auditorium of Building IV. His thesis investigates innovative strategies for improving the energy efficiency of maritime operations.
DEMI professor Ana Teresa Gabriel, along with doctoral student Catarina Santos, participated in a scientific activity at Emídio Navarro Secondary School in Almada. The initiative, titled "Physiological Reflex of Stimulus," was part of a project developed by a group of 12th-grade Biology students.
In Portugal, NOVA stood out as the leading institution in the field of Mechanical Engineering, ranking first nationally in the standardized citation impact performance indicator.
Conference from June 23 to 25, 2025, organized by the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (IDMEC) of the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon, in partnership with the Research and Development Unit in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (UNIDEMI) of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the NOVA University of Lisbon.
As part of the AneurysmTool project, coordinated by Prof. José Xavier, professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DEMI) at NOVA FCT, an online seminar will be held with the participation of Prof. Nele Famaey, specialist in Mechanical Engineering at KU Leuven, Belgium.
