DEMI faculty conduct research at the UNIDEMI research center – the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Research Unit, which received an Excellent rating in the most recent evaluation process conducted by the Research Support Foundation.
UNIDEMI was established in 2003 as a research unit of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology of NOVA University Lisbon.
Our ultimate goal is to produce high-impact research for the global scientific community, industry, services, and society, in the scientific domains of Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Management & Entrepreneurship.
UNIDEMI has experienced rapid and successful growth over the past 20 years, currently with 49 integrated research staff, 10 laboratories in a total space of 1,920 m², and supporting two doctoral programs.
Since 2021, UNIDEMI has been one of the thirteen R&D units that make up the Associated Laboratory of Intelligent Systems (LASI). UNIDEMI was evaluated by the Portuguese government agency for science and technology – Foundation for Science and Technology – and received an EXCELLENT rating, the highest score in the scientific field of mechanical and industrial engineering.
