This is an excellent opportunity for researchers, engineers, and students interested in experimental mechanics, computational modelling, and material characterisation.
The initiative was led by the students themselves, who requested support for an interdisciplinary project in the fields of Biology and Psychology, focused on the study of the nervous reflex
The initiative is promoted by DEMI faculty members, Professor Duarte Dinis and Professor Ana Teresa Gabriel, within the framework of the Occupational Safety and Hygiene (SHO) and Work Study (ET) courses.
As part of the conference, Professor Rui Martins was invited to speak in a plenary session, where he delivered a lecture entitled “Analysis and Prevention of Mechanical Failures in Industrial Equipment.”
One of this year’s main highlights was the presentation of a quadruped industrial robot, adapted by first-year Mechanical Engineering students.
One of the highlights of the day was the visit to the three laboratories created within the scope of the project: the Marco Garetti Lab, the BRIEL, and the HumanTech Data Hub. This visit offered members of the Scientific Committee the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the infrastructure supporting research activities.
The project, titled UNIQUE – University Network for Industrial Quality, Automation, Ecology and Excellence, focuses on advanced doctoral training in the fields of industrial quality, automation, and sustainability, involving an international consortium that brings together academic institutions and industry partners.
Duarte Dinis, professor at DEMI and researcher at UNIDEMI, undertook an international mobility program at the Università degli Studi di Bergamo (UNIBG), Italy, under the FCT Mobility funding promoted by FCT.IP.
Throughout the event, three undergraduate programmes were presented, with particular emphasis on the new Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, which attracted significant interest from participants.
The session featured two professionals from Quadrante: Engineer Gaspar Miranda, Client Manager in the Digital Twins Business Service area, and Engineer Miguel Graça, Project Manager in the Industry Business Unit.
