The doctoral dissertation of DEMI student Francisco Werley Farias took place on
December 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., in the Auditorium of Building IV of the NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT).
The thesis, entitled "Superalloys based on i625 and 718 manufactured through hot interlayer forging using directed energy deposition plasma arc – grain size refinement and heat treatment development," addresses significant advances in the field of 3D printing of nickel superalloys.
The jury was chaired by Dr. Virgílio António Cruz Machado, Full Professor at NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT), and included the following members:
- Dr. Sophie Primig, Full Professor at the University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney), Australia;
- Dr. Joel Andersson, Full Professor at the University of West, Sweden;
- Dr. Maria de Fátima Reis Vaz, Full Professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon;
- Dr. Sónia Luísa dos Santos Simões, Assistant Professor with Tenure at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto;
- Dr. João Pedro de Sousa Oliveira, Full Professor at NOVA FCT;
