Quality Engineering and Ergonomics

The Quality Engineering and Ergonomics Center (NEQE) has five professors with doctorates. NEQE's teaching activities, including undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs, encompass a broad range of topics, covering nearly all of the knowledge currently associated with the fields of Quality Engineering and Ergonomics.

The research activities developed and/or supervised by the Center's faculty members have encompassed various areas, including:

  • Research in the field of Statistical Process Control, particularly in terms of short-run production control, real-time statistical control, and the integration of automatic control with statistical control;
  • Research in the field of Factorial Experiment Design and its application to production processes to improve their quality;
  • Research related to the 6-Sigma methodology and its application in industrial and service companies;
  • Research in the field of Reliability models;
  • Research related to the adoption of Quality methods and practices by companies, both nationally and internationally;
  • Research in the field of Service Quality, notably in the field of service recovery and service capacity analysis.
  • Management of occupational safety (prevention of individual workplace accidents) with operational safety (prevention of serious industrial accidents), bridging the gap between the various Quality, Environmental, and Safety Management Systems.
  • Maximization of the functional and economic performance of production systems, aligning and reconciling the operational needs of systems with individual capabilities and needs.

The dissemination of the scientific work developed at the Center is ensured through communications and publications at national and international events.
The Center maintains contact with other teaching and research units at the European level, particularly through participation in international projects. Finally, it is worth mentioning the existence of Quality Engineering and Ergonomics Laboratories, equipped to support the teaching and research activities carried out within the Center.
