On December 11, NOVA FCT paid tribute to Professor Virgílio Cruz Machado, former Dean of the Faculty, for the four-year period 2018-2022. The ceremony took place in the Auditorium of Building IV, where his portrait, painted by Portuguese artist Carlos Possolo, was officially unveiled.
A full professor at DEMI, he is internationally recognized for his contributions to production systems, industrial management, and innovation strategies. He conceived and coordinated the NOVA FCT Entrepreneurship program, which serves approximately 1,000 students annually.
Virgílio Machado's portrait was added to the gallery of former deans of the school, a space that celebrates the history and figures who have shaped the school's evolution. Carlos Possolo's work captured the essence of the honoree, symbolizing not only his professional trajectory but also his impact on the academic community.
The ceremony was attended by Professor José Júlio Alferes, current Dean of NOVA FCT, and faculty, students, and staff, who shared words of appreciation and admiration for his work. The event highlighted the legacy that Professor Virgílio Machado leaves at NOVA FCT, inspiring future generations.
