NOVA FCT launches Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering (MEAER)

05-04-2023

On March 30th, the Master's in Aerospace Engineering (MEAER) was officially presented to a packed audience. NOVA School of Science and Technology |NOVA FCT is a new initiative to enrich its educational offerings.

This master's program was designed in partnership with several departments of the school and is coordinated by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DEEC) and the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DEMI). This program will have two distinct areas of specialization: Avionics Systems and Aerospace Mechanics, which will be the responsibility of each of the aforementioned departments.

This new curriculum is expected to provide students with knowledge and skills in the areas of aircraft and avionics design and integration; flight dynamics, operations, and communications; fluid dynamics and aerodynamics; design of structures, materials, and propulsion systems; production and sustainability; and space technology and applications.

We believe that the MEAER program at FCT NOVA is an excellent option for all students interested in this field of study. We are a school with 35 years of teaching experience, excellent laboratories, and computational support resources. We also have the main research centers supporting this master's degree (CTS and UNIDEMI), both rated "Excellent."

This belief was also supported by representatives of companies in the field present at the event on March 30th, some FCT NOVA alumni. They also emphasized the importance of investing in the aerospace industry in Portugal and the lack of engineers to work in this field. The companies present were GMV, Takever, TAP, Omnidea, and AED Cluster Portugal.

Other companies in the field were also represented in the audience, such as Embraer, Edisoft, DEIMOS, Spin.Works, BeyondVision, and the Air Force Academy and Alcochete Shooting Range.

The first application period for this master's program ran from February 27th to March 24th, and so far the results have been quite positive, according to Professor Duarte Albuquerque, assistant professor at DEMI and member of the MEAER Scientific Committee. The second application period for this master's program, which is expected to be very popular, will run from June 1st to July 12th.

So, if you're interested, don't miss this opportunity and apply now for the Master's in Aerospace Engineering at FCT NOVA.
