AneurysmTool Project Offers R&D Grant to Future PhD Students

10-02-2023

As part of the AneurysmTool Project - "Fluid-structure interaction for the functional assessment of ascending aortic aneurysms: a biomechanical approach for clinical practice," led by UNIDEMI (Research and Development Unit for Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA) and funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), a scholarship is being offered to a master's student.

This project, which also includes the participation of NOVA Medical School, the Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering (INEGI), and the Center for Applied Mathematics for Economic Forecasting and Decision Making (CEMAPRE), aims to develop advanced computational tools based on clinical and imaging data.

The project aims to contribute to the development of a computational simulation platform capable of modeling the fluid-structure interaction specific to patients with thoracic aortic aneurysms. This tool should be able to produce evidence on current clinical practices based on imaging exams, as well as allow for personalized analysis for each patient with an aortic aneurysm, without the need for surgical indication.

Therefore, we are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for this grant and to join the project development team. They will be offered the opportunity to be part of an innovative and revolutionary research and development project in the healthcare field.
