DEMI and UNIDEMI will once again participate in the European Researchers' Night

28-09-2023

Tomorrow, September 29th, a new edition of the European Researchers' Night (ERN) will take place, this year with the theme "Science for All – Inclusion and Sustainability." This event aims to promote research, science, and innovation among the general public. This promotion will be done through entertainment, by promoting activities that impact citizens' daily lives. These activities could also ideally stimulate interest in scientific careers among younger people.

This year, the Faculty of Science and Technology of NOVA University Lisbon (NOVA FCT) is once again participating in this event, with over 30 activity proposals. The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DEMI) and its research center, UNIDEMI, will also be represented.

The activities promoted by DEMI/UNIDEMI will include the game "Sustainable Logistics," which aims to demonstrate the importance of logistics in managing the flow of materials, goods, and communication to contribute to reducing CO2 emissions; and a demonstration titled "Is 3D Printing with Metals Sustainable?", which aims to showcase the sustainability potential of Additive Manufacturing, specifically one of its processes, Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), which presents new opportunities for manufacturing, repairing, and remanufacturing products, with distinct environmental and economic performance.

If you're interested in these topics, visit us tomorrow, September 29th, from 5:00 PM to midnight, at the National Museum of Natural History and Science, in Lisbon.
