The Faculty of Science and Technology of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa has a new educational offering: the Postgraduate Diploma in Railway Infrastructure Rehabilitation. The program's faculty includes two professors from the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering: Professor Tiago Silva and Professor Marta Carvalho.
This program, accredited by the Portuguese Engineers Association, is designed for students who have completed their first cycle of higher education in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related fields. It will be offered after-work hours, with classes on Fridays starting at 5:00 PM and Saturdays starting at 9:00 AM. The weekly hours will be 10 hours.
Professor Tiago Silva will teach the Signal Processing for Condition Analysis (PSA) course, which will enable trainees to acquire knowledge that will enable them to define and implement signal acquisition systems for measuring and controlling variables of interest in infrastructure maintenance.
Professor Marta Silva will teach the Numerical Simulation of Railway Accidents for Passive Safety Analysis (SSP) course, which will cover the fundamental concepts of numerical simulation applied to the study of passive passenger safety and the potential and limitations of using commercial codes, encouraging their rational and appropriate use in representing real systems and their components.
