The 47th International Conference on Computers & Industrial Engineering (CIE47) took place between October 11 and 13, 2017. The conference was organized by the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at FCT NOVA (Professor Virgílio Cruz Machado and Professor António Grilo) under the theme “How Digital Platforms and Industrial Engineering are Transforming Industry and Services,” bringing together about 200 participants from more than 45 countries.
The event provided an opportunity to disseminate theoretical developments, methodologies, technological applications, case studies, and research project results in this multidisciplinary field that spans the scientific areas of computer science, industrial engineering, and management, with a particular focus on Industry 4.0 topics.
The conference was attended by eight renowned speakers and the founder of the conference, Professor Mohamed Dessouky, Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal Computers & Industrial Engineering. At this meeting, participants had the opportunity to establish collaborative networks in terms of research, attend sessions of high scientific content, and develop joint efforts to promote the evolution of theory and practical application of scientific concepts, as well as identify key trends in Industrial Engineering and Management.
