On October 01st, 2025, at 4:00 PM, PhD candidate Ana Carolina Chasqueiro from the Doctoral Program in Industrial Engineering will present her Thesis Plan Proposal in Meeting Room 4.32, Building VIII.
The thesis, titled “Integrated Model For Optimizing Aircraft Maintenance Management”, proposes a model to optimize aircraft maintenance management, focusing on predictability and efficiency to enhance the safety and reliability of air operations. The proposal leverages historical data, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) to identify patterns and improve real-time stock monitoring. It also incorporates lean management practices, such as Just-in-Time (JIT) and Kanban, to reduce waste, ensure component availability, and optimize workforce allocation. The goal is to reduce costs, maximize aircraft availability, and support strategic decision-making, providing an innovative approach to aircraft maintenance management.
The research is being supervised by Prof. Dr. Duarte Dinis from NOVA FCT, whose expertise is industrial engineering and aircraft maintenance management.
This presentation marks an important step in the academic journey of the student, offering an opportunity to discuss innovative frameworks and gather valuable feedback from peers and specialists in the field of aerospace engineering and maintenance operation.
