The DEMI professor has been appointed to coordinate the new WG 13 working group of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), assuming a central role in the development of the future international standard ISO 21514 on project management and governance systems.
The appointment, approved by 85% of the participating countries, represents an unprecedented milestone for Portugal, which is leading an international standards group in this area for the first time. With a career dedicated to standardization and project management, Alexandra Tenera is also head of the ONS APOGEP, a researcher at UNIDEMI, and former president of CT 175.
This international recognition reinforces Portugal's presence in global standardization processes, with a direct impact on the harmonization of practices among companies, public administrations, and international organizations. The Portuguese Quality Institute (IPQ) welcomes this appointment, highlighting the value of national technical participation in the international context.
Alexandra Tenera also emphasizes the importance of scientific knowledge's contribution to global economic development and expresses special thanks to DEMI and NOVA FCT for their support, which enabled her to embrace this challenging opportunity. Thanks to this environment of excellence, Portugal is now a leader in Project Management standardization.
