On May 14th, the seminar "What Does an Industrial Engineer and Manager Do?" took place in the NOVA FCT Library Auditorium. This seminar is part of the Introduction to Industrial Engineering course, the first course students take as part of the Industrial Engineering and Management undergraduate program.
Organized to provide students with a first glimpse into the professional realities of the field, the seminar featured five former students of the department, who shared their career paths and experiences in the job market.
The session was opened by Professor Susana Duarte, the course coordinator, followed by guest lectures by: Adriana Alves (Kaizen Institute), Rafaela Reis (Siemens), Inês Gomes (Amorim Group), Sérgio Quinteiro (Luz Saúde Group), and Antônio Novais (Palmetal).
Through the shared testimonials, students were able to learn about different areas of Industrial Engineering and Management, understand the challenges and responsibilities associated with practicing the profession, and ask questions in the final question and answer session.
The session highlighted the importance of initiatives like this in building a practical and motivating vision for future engineers and industrial managers.
