The 9th International Conference on Axiomatic Design (ICAD 2015) was held in Florence, Italy, from September 16 to 18, 2015, at which members of the Research and Development Unit in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (UNIDEMI) — a research center of the Foundation for Science and Technology hosted by FCT-UNL — won the following awards:
Honorable Mention for Outstanding Technical Paper:
António Gabriel-Santos, António M. Gonçalves-Coelho, Pedro Santos, João Fradinho, António Mourão, for the presentation of the article
“Redesigning a manufacturing system based on functional independence: the case of a tree nursery”
Outstanding Reviewer Award:

UNIDEMI members have participated in the ICAD conference series since 2004 and hosted the 2009 and 2014 editions on the FCT NOVA campus. They won important awards at the 2011 edition—which took place at KAIST, Daejeon, Republic of Korea—and therefore occupy a prominent place within the international community dedicated to the research and application of Axiomatic Design Theory.
The 2016 edition is scheduled for September 2016 at Xi'an JiaoTong University, Xi'an, People's Republic of China ICAD 2016.
