Conclusion | João Lopes' PhD in Mechanical Engineering

On March 5th, João Carlos Galveias Lopes's doctoral thesis in Mechanical Engineering was defended in the Main Hall of Building IV of the NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT). His presentation, entitled "An Investigation of Welding of High Entropy Alloys in Similar and Dissimilar Combinations," addressed the investigation of the weldability of high-entropy alloys (HEAs), with the goal of assessing the viability of these alloys in industry and identifying challenges in their processing, contributing to the development of high-performance components.

The jury was chaired by Professor Telmo G. Santos, Full Professor at the NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT), and included the following members:

• Professor João S. Oliveira, Full Professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology of NOVA University Lisbon;
• Professor António B. Pereira, Full Professor at the University of Aveiro;
• Professor Maria de Fátima R. Vaz, Full Professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon;
