CAT - PhD in Industrial Engineering|“Smart Contracts in B2B Trade: A Strategic Framework for Readiness, Maturity and Adoption”

22-07-2025

On July 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., PhD candidate Pedro Caldeira, from the Doctoral Program in Industrial Engineering and Management, will present his Thesis Plan Proposal in Meeting Room 4.32, Building VIII.

The thesis, titled “Smart Contracts in B2B Trade: A Strategic Framework for Readiness, Maturity, and Adoption,” proposes a strategic model to support companies in assessing their readiness and maturity for the adoption of blockchain-based smart contracts in international B2B trade. The study identifies the main legal, technical, and organizational obstacles and introduces the SCALE Model—a practical tool designed to guide the implementation of this emerging technology in global trade.

The research is being supervised by Prof. Dr. Antônio Grilo and Prof. Dr. Aneesh Zutshi, from NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT), whose experience in industrial engineering and digital transformation contributed invaluably to the development of a rigorous and impactful analysis.

This presentation constitutes an important step in the student's academic journey, providing an opportunity to discuss innovative models and gather valuable contributions from colleagues and experts in the field.
