The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DEMI) is an organic unity of FCT / UNL devoted to teaching, scientific research and providing services to the community in the fields of Industrial Engineering and Mechanics Engineering, as well as in related or interdisciplinary fields . It was founded in 1998 with the aim of combining the various structures of the FCT / UNL engaged, since the mid-1970s, in scientific research and education in the areas of Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
Given the broad range of skills covering the DEMI adopted an internal structure based on 2 sections: Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering and 7 Cores: Structural Mechanics; Fluid Mechanics and Applied Thermodynamics; Draft Machinery; Industrial Technology; Industrial Management; the Quality Engineering; Ergonomics.
