DEMI at Futurália 2026

25-03-2026

DEMI took part in Futurália 2026 with a dynamic and consistent presence, standing out for its close engagement with visitors and the diversity of its academic offerings. Throughout the event, three undergraduate programmes were presented, with particular emphasis on the new Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, which attracted significant interest from participants.

The team on site, composed of 10 professors — Ana Paula Barroso, Ana Teresa Gabriel, Bruno Soares, Daniel Vaz, Duarte Albuquerque, Pedro Coelho, Pedro Cruz, Raquel Almeida, Susana Duarte and Willian Pasini — along with 19 student volunteers, helped create an accessible, informative, and dialogue-friendly environment.

On Saturday, the presence at the stand of the programme coordinators for Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering and Management, Prof. Daniel Vaz and Prof. Ana Paula Barroso, was especially valued by visitors, strengthening the direct connection between academic leadership and the public. On the same day, the space also featured the Nova Formula Student team and its car, which stood out as one of the main attractions, as well as the presence of the Director of NOVA FCT, Prof. Júlio Alferes, and the President of DEMI, Prof. Telmo Santos.

It is also worth noting that the coordination of DEMI’s participation in Futurália has evolved over the years. After being led by Prof. Carla Machado until 2022 and subsequently by Prof. Daniel Vaz for three years, this year it was overseen by Prof. Duarte Albuquerque, who ensured a well-structured and effective presence.

Overall, it was clear that the focus on a closer, more interactive, and carefully organised participation helped strengthen the interest of prospective students in the three degree programmes under DEMI’s responsibility.
