The Agora room will host, between 2 pm and 3 pm, the seminar “Multiscale Digital Twins of Aortic Disease: From Biomechanics to Mechanobiology”, presented by Stéphane Avril, researcher at Sainbiose (INSERM, Saint-Étienne, France). The initiative is organized by Professor José Xavier, Professor at DEMI and Researcher at UNIDEMI.
The lecture addresses the development of multiscale digital twins applied to aortic aneurysms and dissections, combining biomechanical models, machine learning, and mechanobiology to create personalized simulations that support diagnosis, prediction of complications, and intervention planning.
The session highlights the importance of these digital tools in personalized medicine and reinforces the link between engineering, technology, and health. This event is also part of the PESSOA Program – Portugal-France Bilateral Cooperation (ref. 2024.07108.CBM), which funds this trip and the seminar, promoting scientific collaboration between the two countries.
