Originally from Brazil, Prof. Willian Pasini holds a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). He completed his Master’s and PhD in the Graduate Program in Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering at UFRGS — rated 7 by CAPES, the highest level of academic excellence in Brazil.
His academic and scientific career includes solid international experience. In 2021, he completed an international doctoral internship, and later, between 2023 and September 2025, he carried out postdoctoral research at the Krakow Institute of Technology (Poland), part of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, within a project funded by the Polish National Science Centre.
In Brazil, Prof. Pasini was a Master’s and PhD fellow of CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development). He also served as a higher and technical education lecturer at the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) between 2018 and 2020.
During his undergraduate studies, he completed internships at ITAIPU Binacional — one of the largest producers of clean energy in the world — and at the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), the country’s leading research center in energy and materials.
His research focuses on the development of new materials and the relationship between manufacturing processes and their resulting properties. More recently, he has been dedicated to the synthesis and processing of multicomponent silicides, with an emphasis on high-temperature and extreme-environment applications, such as in aircraft turbines and hypersonic vehicles.
Regarding this new chapter at DEMI, Prof. Pasini highlights:
“Being at NOVA FCT and DEMI has been a very positive and motivating experience. I have found a welcoming and collaborative team, committed to advancing research and providing students with strong practical training.”
DEMI warmly welcomes Prof. Willian Pasini and wishes him great success and fulfillment in this new professional and scientific stage.
